November 19th, 2018.

My fourth tutoring session with Byeongsoo Kim revolved around the recent open house at CIES, which occurred the previous week. After visiting the “Asian” section of the open house, specifically the “South Korean” section, I found myself with an interest for what was showcased. What startled me the most about the food that was brought was a kind of fried chip that tasted very much so like shrimp. He agreed with me, he said it was a favorite of his. Along with the food, we also discussed a pair of figures that were brought in. Byeongsoo mentioned that they were used in traditional Korean plays. I mentioned to him that they had a similarity to traditional Greek theater masks. Before our session ended, we once more reviewed a small list of vocabulary, which included the words: “tasty,” “juxtapose,” “playwright,” and “folk.”
