November 13th, 2018. Class Meeting.
For the third tutoring session with Byeongsoo Kim, we met directly after his listening class. This occurred because I observed his listening class on that day. Consequently, we discussed what had occurred during his class. He mentioned that the lecture video he saw in class was somewhat difficult to understand. The lecture itself was on color, and how it influences the feeling of a room. It was a somewhat niche topic that contained complicated concepts such as “undertones.” Once more, Byeongsoo mentioned that he felt concerned about how he could understand the lectures that he would soon take at FSU for his master’s program. I mentioned to him that there was still plenty of time to fine-tune his listening skills. I also mentioned that students often bring their laptops to class, thus he might do the same and record the lecture. That way he would be able to listen to the lectures over and over again. However, I encouraged him to continue to practice his listening skills. Similar to last time, we reviewed a series of words that related to what we discussed. These included: “décor,” “undertones,” “aesthetics,” and “elongated.” To help him practice his listening skills, I also sent him a link to a podcast. This podcast is called, “Global News Podcast.”
