Miguel Derett - CP #4

November 15, 2018.

For my fourth conversation meeting, I meet with Randy for a fourth time. This meeting was different because we decided to meet during the open house at CIES. Randy, being from Colombia, participated in the Latin American room. This room was in the conference room of the CIES building, thus it was the first room any visitor would see. From my experience, when I entered the building I was meet with a wail of Colombian music and the vibrant movement of Colombian dancing. Randy later explained that the colorful dresses worn by the dancers were traditional dresses. The dancing itself was also done in a traditional style, so that is to say that it is not considered contemporary dancing. Still, he explained that it is an important part of their culture. Before Randy left to rejoin his friends, he introduced me to some of the food that was brought in. He showed me a certain kind of candy that was primarily made out of guava. The flavor was unquestionably tropical.
