On November 14, 2018, I observed Dr. Pollock's listening class at 2:00 PM. The agenda was written on the whiteboard. The materials required included the class workbook, a computer with the audio files, and a paper and pencil. This lesson was part of a larger lesson plan that involved scaffolding and a listening log. The introductory activity was a review of last lesson's material. Dr. Pollock asked each student to summarize the reading passage from last lesson. Whenever there was an error in production, Dr. Pollock would be quick to correct the errors. Next, the new vocabulary was introduced. This was a majority of the class time and it emphasized for me how important understanding the material is for any activities. The class ended with a vocabulary matching activity where the students would write the vocabulary word they heard in a sentence. Dr. Pollock made sure to include everyone in the activities and made corrections when necessary. I learned to be persistent and consistent with my lesson plan because on numerous occasions the students knew what they were going to do next as a result of the systematicity and similarity of the lesson to previous ones.
