Harrison Butcher TS#11
For this session, Ali asked me to come up with interesting vocabulary words. One interesting thing I noticed from talking to my tutees and conversation partners is that there are certain common phrases about the weather we use that many nonnative speakers aren’t forever. For example, to describe the rain I could say it’s, drizzling, sprinkling, pouring, that there is a sun shower, or that it is torrential. I put together a list of many of these words including the definition and example sentence for each. Ali and I then Skyped each other to review the words and put them into practice. I then described to him a couple of situations involving different weather to see how much he understood. After this I had him create some of his own sentences using the vocabulary.
