Mitchell Gaylord TS #2
Tutoring Session #2
My second tutoring session was with Yun-Jung on 11/5 in the CIES lounge. During this session, she wanted to work on phrases starting with “which”, “who” and “that.” She was confused on where to place them and also if they could be interchangeable. We worked through a few examples together. The main point I drove home was the placement of phrases should be based on emphasis. For example, “I love the girl in the garden who is holding flowers.” places emphasis on the fact the girl is in the garden. If you flip the phrases to “I love the girl who is holding flowers in the garden.”, the emphasis is placed on the fact the girl is holding flowers.
